Including the Victorian junior, veteran and open age groups (open to all runners) and 5—8—12 km Family Fun Run which is open to all runnners.

Mount Buller once again plays host to the Victorian Mountain Running Championships in a mountain running competition that is open to all.

In 2015 the courses have been upgraded to reflect the actual distances that will be run over the 2016 Australian Mountain Running Championships at Mount Buller.

This event is open to all runners—so come along and pit yourself against the best of the best in terms of mountain running. Stay overnight and join in the fun on the Sunday by running in the Mount Buller Skyrun (22—36—45 km).

Start: Mirimbah Park, immediately beyond the entry station.

Finish: Mount Buller Village

Registration/Check in: 8.30 A.M.

Start time: 9:00 A.M.

Categories: Open men and women, M40, and M50+ and W40 and W50+, Junior men 16+

Women under 20—5 km

Start/Finish: Mount Buller Village just above the Village clock tower

Registration/Check in: 9:30 A.M.

Start time: 10:00 A.M.

Presentations: 11:00 A.M., Village Square Clock Tower Mount Buller.

Bus transport will be available for 8/12 km runners to be transported down the mountain to their starting points at a cost of $5 per person.

Pre-race check in: All competitors must check in and receive their race number at least 20 minutes before the start time for their races. All competitors should assemble at the start area 10 minutes before their start for a pre-race briefing.

Drink stations: Water and sports drink will be available at drink stations at the top of the Klingsporn Track and Mount Buller Village.

Awards will given to the following categories

Individual for Athletics Victoria and VMRA championships.

Providing that there are at least three competitors in the particular race, Athletics Victoria championship medals will be awarded to the first three individual competitors outright in each of the:

  • Open men’s 12 km
  • Open women’s 8 km
  • Junior men’s 8 km
  • Junior women’s 5 km
  • Family Fun Run – prizes for the male and female winners in the 5—8—12 km distances
General eligibility

The Victorian Mountain Running Championships are open to any fit distance runner, fun runner, orienteer, rogainer, triathlete or duathlete aged 16 years and over, not just registered athletics club members.
